The aim of this paper is exploring questions regarding the problem of absenteeism among high-school students in Sweden. Fifteen students attending an urban high-school have been interviewed about their views and experiences of absenteeism. The author analyzes the students? answers by taking into account two different sociological approaches which give two different explanations about the way young people experience and estimate education. The French sociologist Bourdieu theorized that differences in cultural capital influence the permanent internalization of patterns of thought and behavior.

Undersökningens syfte är att studera hur historielärare på gymnasiet berättar om berättande. Studien grundar sig därför på intervjuer med gymnasielärare i historia. Intervjumaterialet kopplas sedan för det första till retoriska begrepp, för det andra till Thomas Ziehes pedagogiska teorier och för det tredje till Peter Gärdenfors bild av människan som mönsterskapare och meningssökare. Problem/Bakgrund: Snedrekryteringen till universitet och högskolor, utifrån klass, har endast förändrats marginellt de senaste decennierna. Trots politiska reformer är arbetarklassen fortfarande underrepresenterad.Syfte: Syftet har varit att beskriva och förklara hur individer med arbetarklassbakgrund upplever sitt val, möte och eventuella reproduktion av högre studier. Vidare har det varit att se om de har gemensamma erfarenheter med andra i samma situation, om de har upplevt svårigheter eller fördelar i mötet med utbildning som kan härledas ur deras klassbakgrund.Uppsatsens utgångspunkter och undersökningens uppläggning: Jag har utgått från att individer med arbetarklassbakgrund, som minoritet på högre utbildning är med om upplevelser som grundas i deras sociala bakgrund. Därför har jag valt att samla in mitt empiriska material genom att göra intervjuer med tre individer ur arbetarklassen som valt att läsa vidare. Det empiriska materialet har tolkats med hjälp av teorier av Pierre Bourdieu, Thomas Ziehe och en del forskning kring klassresenärer, främst Mats Trondman.Slutsatser/resultat: Jag har funnit en del faktorer i den sociala bakgrunden som överensstämmer samt skiljer sig mot vad tidigare forskning kring klassresor diskuterat.

This essay aims to investigate young people's vision of clothes as a means of communication. Focus lies on what message the clothing we have on sends out and how they are interpreted by our surroundings. Do other people interpret us the way we intend to through our clothes? The theoretical frame of reference that applies is Thomas Ziehe?s theories about Clothing and Identity, Anthony Giddens? Reflexive Identity Processes and the Uses and Gratification?s theory. The researches were carried out with a comprehensive questionnaire survey among high school students, at Lars Kaggskolan in Kalmar, with an associated image, and two personal interviews.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether religious behavior or religious identity changes when a person with Muslim background moves to a Christian country and also very secular such as Sweden. I have interviewed five people with Muslim background that have moved from Turkey to Sweden. In this study I have applied Anthony Giddens and Thomas Ziehe's theories about building up an identity but also Nader Ahmadis theory of migration and identity.The results of this study show that there is a change in the practice of religion but also that this differs between these five people who came from the same country. Nevertheless, a change in the practice of religion can on one hand be as a result of modernity and on the other hand, exclusion of family. It also proves that it is not possible to draw general conclusions on this issue instead it should be looked at from an individual perspective..

This essay describes the philosophy of science that Thomas Kuhn puts forth in his work The Structure of Scientific Revolutions. The purpose of this Master's Thesis is to explore the influence of fiction on the identity and self-esteem of young women. The purpose is also to investigate if there are any books that they consider to be of importance for their identity. Furthermore, I investigate what appeals to young women generally in fiction and if it is difficult for them to find books that appeal to them. The primary question posed in this thesis is: How does fiction influence the identity development of young women? The data collection is based on literature on the subject and on interviews with eight young women between 15 and 20 years old.

This academic essay explores the possibilities to knowledge of God in the thought of Thomas Aquinas. The essay takes its departure from question 12 in the Summa Theologiae, specifically articles 12 and 13 that deal with natural knowledge of God and supernatural knowledge, respectively. It also presents objections made by modern philosophers against these ways of knowledge along with a rebuttal of these objections. Lastly, a conclusion is offered and ends with a reflection on how Aquinas' teaching on human knowledge of God in earthly existence compares with his teaching on the knowledge human beings will have in heaven and what consequences that has for our present knowledge..

Kursplanen för ämnet svenska framhåller i många passusar vikten av att möjliggöra elevers personliga utveckling. I ämneskommentaren för svenskämnet används ordet identitet vid tre tillfällen. I denna kontext, i och med att ett klassrumsklimat där elever och lärare gemensamt diskuterar exempelvis måluppfyllelse kräver av parterna att ha gjort klarhet i vad de diskuterar, faller det sig naturligt att fråga hur begreppet identitet uppfattas av elever. Uppsatsens syfte var att med hjälp av en fenomenografisk femstegsmetod beskriva vilka olika tankar kring identitet som eleverna genom skriftspråket strukturerar, men också att granska vad elevtexterna har gemensamt. Efter att ha brutit ned elevuppsatserna i citat och bildat innebördskategorier utkristalliserades sju innehållsskategorier.

The purpose of this Master?s thesis is to investigate the library needs of fourteen-to-fifteen-year-olds. We have limited the investigation to the significance of libraries for the teenagers in their leisure time. Our focus is the public library with a particular reference to the plans for a new local public library with a youth profile in Malmö. With a departure point in the idea that young people?s use and view of libraries is to a large extent depending on factors such as social and cultural background and lifestyle, we chose to do a qualitative interview study with eight teenagers.

This study departs in a critique issued against the ethics of deconstruction that it does not provide good enough advice for how to turn its ehtics into "real life"-actions. Taking up the concept of moral practices as found in e.g. Alisdain MacIntyre, Stanley Hauerwas, James K.A. Smith, and Roland Spjuth, this study turns to medieval theologian Thomas Aquinas as a potential resource. Combining the teachings in Aquinas' Summa Thologica with a look into his life as a Domninican, a list of moral practices is put forth and analyzed in conjunction with Derrida's ethics.

The aim of this Master?s thesis is to examine the reading support activities performed by the school libraries of five Swedish upper secondary schools. It focuses upon fiction reading. Two main research questions are asked: the first one in order to find out what kind of ideas of fiction, fiction reading and young people that are held by the librarians of the five libraries, the second one in order to find out what the motives behind the reading support activities are. One additional research question is asked to examine how the librarians estimate the results of the reading support activities, and furthermore how the students seem to respond to them.

Hur går övergången från ungdom till vuxen idag till?Material och metod: Metoden är fenomenologiskt inspirerad och bygger på metoden i Reflective lifeworld research (2008). Zygmunt Bauman, Thomas Ziehe och författarna till boken Livsföring ? ett sociologiskt grundbegrepp (2007) har varit teoretiska utgångspunkter. Insamlingsmetod har främst varit ostrukturerade intervjuer och observation vid 6 olika fritidsgårdar i en mellanstor stad (totalt 17 intervjuer).
